Status notifications
In the Night Ops update, we have added visual indicators to notify players of ongoing server-side, client-side, network, and hardware events in real time. These notifications appear in the top-right corner of the screen, right under the FPS counter.
If you are experiencing issues affecting your gameplay, such as performance degradation, freezing and stuttering, crashing, lag, rubberbanding, or desync, these notifications should provide additional context on what may cause the problem and how to improve your experience.
Server side notifications
Low Server FPS
Server FPS (Frames Per Second) measures how many times per second a game server updates the game world and processes player actions. It affects how smoothly the game runs for everyone connected to the server. The Low Server FPS icon indicates that the server you are currently connected to has a lower-than-optimal server FPS, which may result in slightly degraded performance for all players connected to the server. If you notice slightly lower performance than usual and this icon is visible, changing servers or regions may help improve your experience.
Very Low Server FPS
Similarly to the Low Server FPS notification, this icon also informs players of server-side FPS issues. It appears if the server's FPS reaches a very low point, which heavily impacts the player's FPS on that server. Should you notice unusual performance issues and this notification is present in the top-right corner of your screen, we strongly recommend changing servers or regions by safely ending deployment and deploying again.
Client-side notifications
Shaders Compiling
The shader compilation icon indicates that shaders are being actively compiled. This may negatively impact performance temporarily and cause stutters and freezing until the compilation completes. To avoid any issues, we recommend waiting until the compilation is finished before leaving the base camp or engaging in active firefights. While you may notice shaders being compiled for a moment when entering POIs, this process should be momentary and should not cause any overly noticeable performance degradation for prolonged periods of time.
Network notifications
Packet Loss
Packet loss notification warns about ongoing high packet loss while connecting to our servers, which can cause rubberbanding and stuttering for the player. If you are experiencing packet loss, we recommend deploying to a different region for a smoother experience.
High Latency
High latency or high ping notification indicates network issues, resulting in higher than optimal ping, which may result in lag, desync, and other network-related issues during gameplay. If this notification is present and you are experiencing issues, we recommend switching to a different region to avoid any issues related to high ping.
High Latency Variation
While this notification icon seems similar to high latency, it notifies users of large ping spikes and drops, which may cause sudden stutters, lag, and disruption. Similarly to high ping, if you notice unusual stuttering, desync, or lag while playing and you notice this icon appearing under the FPS counter, try changing to a different region with good playable latency to mitigate the effects of ping spikes.
Hardware notifications
Low VRAM
Low VRAM (Video Memory) informs players that their graphics card is running out of available VRAM with the current in-game graphics settings. This may result in performance issues and, in more severe cases, game instability and crashes. The easiest way to resolve this is to lower your graphics settings. The most impactful settings for VRAM usage are the Display Resolution, Texture Resolution, Shadow Quality, and Shading Quality.
