If you are experiencing issues connecting to the servers, due to frequent Network Error related disconnections or unreasonably long time waiting in the first position in queue, please follow the steps below to ensure the issue is not related to your antivirus software, network or ISP.
Troubleshooting
Windows Firewall and Windows Defender Configuration:
- Navigate to Control Panel
- Go to System and Security
- Open Windows Firewall
- Select Advanced settings
- Highlight Inbound Rules
- Select New Rule
- Choose Program and click Next
- Click Browse and add the following path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gray Zone Warfare\GZW\Binaries\Win64\GZWClientSteam-Win64-Shipping
- Click Open, then Allow the connection
- Ensure Domain, Private, and Public are checked
- Name the rule GZW and click Finish
- Repeat the process for:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gray Zone Warfare\GZWClientEAC
- C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat_EOS\EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe
Configure Your 3rd-party Antivirus:
- Refer to your specific 3rd-party antivirus software’s guide to add an exception for GZW files:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gray Zone Warfare\GZW\Binaries\Win64\GZWClientSteam-Win64-Shipping
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gray Zone Warfare\GZWClientEAC
- C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat_EOS\EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe
Turn Off IPv6:
- Open Control Panel (you can search for it using Windows Search)
- Select Network & Internet (if you are not using Category view, click on "Network and Sharing
- Centre" and skip next step)
- Click on Network and Sharing Centre
- Select Change adapter setting from the menu on the left
- Double-click the Ethernet adapter you are using for LAN
- Click Properties
- Scroll down and untick Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
- Click OK
- Click Close
- Restart your PC
Change the DNS server in network settings to manually use one of these options:
- Open Control Panel (you can search for it using Windows Search)
- Select Network & Internet (if you are not using Category view, click on "Network and Sharing
- Centre" and skip next step)
- Click on Network and Sharing Centre
- Select Change adapter setting from the menu on the left
- Right-click your network connection and select Properties
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
- Click Properties
- Select radio button Use the following DNS server addresses

Enter one of the following DNS servers:
- Google: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4
- Quad9: 9.9.9.9 & 149.112.112.112
- OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220
- Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1
- AdGuard DNS: 94.140.14.14 & 94.140.15.15
- CleanBrowsing: 185.228.168.9 & 185.228.169.9
- Alternate DNS: 76.76.19.19 & 76.223.122.150
- Click OK
- Restart your Computer
Reboot Modem/Router:
- Turn off your modem/router
- Wait for 15 minutes
- Turn it back on
Try another network or connection type:
- If you are using Wi-Fi, if possible, try connecting to the internet via ethernet cable
- If you have an option to use a different Wi-Fi or wired connection, switch to it and verify whether issue persists
